Easy to change - you just need a Phillips head screwdriver (and possibly a pair of pliers, if the Pulley Button rotates while you are removing the screw).
Part of what makes a good boot great is being able to replace all parts individually. Absolutely love that you can replace heel captivators (and everything else) on the Renegades, and love that you can get them in all different colours. Note that the Viper captivators are a great deal easier to deal with than the Classics (easier access to the pulley buttons = easier to replace wires), so if you are looking to replace one you may consider switching to Viper captivators. The good thing about the Classics however is that you can replace the liner if it gets worn, and it has a generous shape that better hugs the heel bulbs of heavier, stockier horses with straighter pasterns. All in all it is up to you and your horse which suits best.
