The amount of grip will change if the surface is wet. Always consider safety for horse and rider regarding wet/dry surfaces.

PLEASE NOTE: Please ignore the comment in the video about only needing to take one measurement, being the length. You always need to measure both the length and width of your horse's hooves, to establish the correct size and shape of the hoof and determine the most suitable hoof boot.

Second pair of these, used on unshod hinds for hacking and roadwork. Our pony loves them and holds his hoofs up for them!

I have used these on my barefoot horse for years. We are on our third pair. Brilliant. Fit well and stay on with no problems. I also use cavallo gel pads as an extra boost as my boy has thin soles

    Cavallo Simple Hoof Boots

I am totally delighted with these boots, my pony sometimes needs some protection on his front feet due to a variety of factors. I was unsure what type of boot I needed for him. This was mainly due to having brought a pair of boots from a hoof trimmer who thought the ones she sold me were a fit for purpose. However when I did try using them; they either came off or he didnt seem happy in them. I made the best decision ever, I got in touch with Liz at Hoof Boutique, took photos of my pony in and out of the boots; added all the relevant measurements, and got her recommendation to try Cavello Simple Boots size 2 normal fit. Well, the difference was astounding, they fitted perfectly, the pony was happy and comfortable = one very happy owner!

    Cavallo simple horse boots

Published by faye mansfield on 26th Apr 2020

Boots are good, however as my horse drags his back feet, he squares the boot which then becomes thin and puts a hole through the front. He has worn his new boots for a week for about half a days riding and a tiny hole has already appeared. I would welcome some thoughts on how I could help this matter, as the boots are no cheap and I will not be able to ride him if he does not wear the boots. Hi Faye, thank you for taking the time to leave a review of the Cavallo Simple hoof boots, although sorry to hear that your horse has worn through a hole in the toe quite quickly. The Cavallo boots are usually pretty tough and that model can often last for at least 6-12 months (even years for some customers) so I wonder if there is an issue with the sizing? If the boots are too long, then it will be harder for your horse to move naturally in them and that could increase the chance of him wearing through the toe. If your horse drags his toes even out of boots, then boots will also wear through at the toe, but usually it will take quite a while for this to happen. If you would like us to check your boot size and choice for you, if you could please email us some photos of your horses hooves - on the ground, from the front and side view, and also photos of each hoof being measured, in mm, with a retractable tape measure and with the 0 end at the toe for the length measurements (and photos ideally after a fresh trim, where possible) and then we can take a look and check the sizing for you. The Hoof Bootique Team.
