Description
Take your Scootboots to the next level with our Scoot Traction Studs, created for riders who need extra grip on challenging surfaces. Whether you’re navigating slippery grass in the showjumping arena or snow in winter, these studs deliver reliable stability and performance. Traction studs allow users to adjust them according to their horse's specific needs and the terrain.
If you need studs for extra grip with everyday road work, forest trails or mixed terrain, we recommend the Scootboot Ice Studs.
- Enhanced Traction Provides your horse with improved grip on grass, snow, and other slippery conditions. (Use a minimum of 2 studs in the heel of the hoof boots or 4 per boot if required).
- Easy to Install Drill a hole, insert the threaded stud, secure and tighten the nut.
- Versatile Use For competition riders wanting extra traction in the competition ring, as well as trail riders facing varied seasonal, slippery terrain.
- Suitability For Scootboot Classic only (if using Adjust or TheraRide it is recommended ice studs be used).
What is included?
Scootboot Traction Studs are available in two sizes, with each size comprising a small and standard nut option. The smaller nut allows for greater stud extension, while the standard nut creates a shorter profile. This makes it quick and easy to adjust traction levels, swapping studs or nuts between rounds when showjumping to suit changing ground conditions.

Step 1: Drill the pilot hole
- Start by drilling a 4.5 mm (11/64") pilot hole where you want to install the traction stud.

- Drill an 8 mm (5/16") hole to accommodate the traction stud.
Step 3: Clean the holes
- Insert the drill bit into the holes from both the inside and underside of the boot to remove any debris.
Step 4: Insert the stud
- Place the traction stud into the hole.
- Use a hammer to gently tap the stud through the hole until it is fully seated.
Step 5: Attach the nut
- Screw the nut onto the thread from the outside of the boot.
- Hand-tighten the nut until firm.
Step 6: Tighten securely
- Use a 13 mm spanner to fully tighten the traction stud.
- Check that the screw head inside the boot is flush with the sole.
Step 7: Finished
