The Flex Back Straps are an essential part of Flex Boots and help secure the back of the boot to the horse’s foot. Back straps are made of durable TPU material that flexes with the horse’s movement, allowing the hoof to function in a natural way.
Back straps are available in several fun colors, so you can choose your favorite one! Coloured back straps can be practical too; if you use Flex Boots on fronts and hinds, different color straps help you identify which boot is for which foot, quickly and easily. The same back straps fit both the standard and wide Flex Boot styles.
The back strap is slotted through the TPU gaiter, it goes around the back of the foot, above the heel bulbs and is then fastened to both sides of the boot with ball rivets that are attached to the boot shell. The TPU gaiter has two height options for the back strap, so you can easily adjust the fit according to what your horse needs. Straps are also easy to shorten by cutting them with normal household scissors. Watch our video below for more information about how to get the perfect hoof boot fit for your horse or pony.
Sizing
Flex back straps are available in five sizes that fit the following boot sizes as standard.
*the above guide for back strap sizing also applies to the WIDE fit boots (e.g. a 120 WIDE boot needs a Medium back strap).
X-Small backstraps are approximately 22cm end to end.
Small backstraps are approximately 26cm end to end.
Medium backstraps are approximately 30cm end to end.
Large backstraps are approximately 31.5cm end to end.
X-Large backstraps are approximately 34.5cm end to end.
Back straps are easy to shorten by cutting the strap with normal household scissors. If the horse or pony needs custom boots with larger or smaller TPU gaiters and neoprene gaiters, they will also receive the back strap size that corresponds with the new TPU gaiter size.

Materials
Flex back straps are made of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), a material that is often called a hybrid between plastic and rubber. TPU offers the flexibility of rubber, but with the strength and durability of plastic.
Care instructions
Flex back straps are easy to clean and maintain. Simply brush clean, rinse off any dirt and hang the straps to dry in a well-ventilated place. Do not use cleaning products, and do not store the back straps in a closed space such as a box or in your car.
Flex Boots are designed, tested and made in Finland.
